Chapter 3 – Rapid Advancement

Cheng Yang collected his thoughts. As the official lord of Phoenix Fall Village, he could now inspect the altar’s properties.

Approaching the altar, he summoned the village’s status panel:

[Village Status: Phoenix Fall]

The village’s attributes were straightforward, focusing on the four main statues that had naturally formed with the territory’s establishment. The immediate priorities were constructing walls and residences – essential for defense and cultivation.

Spiritual Energy was crucial for class advancements and territory upgrades. While normally individuals used their own energy, lords could authorize using territory reserves. This system mirrored main cities, where beginners often had to borrow from city lords at steep interest rates.

Cheng Yang accessed his personal status:

*This is incredible,* Cheng Yang thought. *In my previous life, it took nearly two months to reach this level.* The early advantage was crucial – being ahead now meant staying ahead as time progressed.

With midday approaching, Cheng Yang considered his options. He could either return to Xiang City for lumber – essential for upcoming constructions – or pursue a potentially game-changing opportunity from his memories. The latter, while risky, could provide early Spiritual Energy to help his friends change classes.

After hours of fruitless searching through transformed terrain, Cheng Yang decided to return to campus. He carefully concealed the statues before departing, contemplating whether to warn others about the impending apocalypse. Ultimately, he decided against it – without proof, he’d be dismissed as a lunatic.

Back at the dorm, Cheng Yang encountered his roommate Liu Hao returning from basketball. Inside, their other two roommates – Niu Bing and Yu Kai – were gaming.

“Guys,” Cheng Yang began seriously, “how much money do you have?”

The trio exchanged concerned looks. “Yang, what’s going on?” Liu Hao asked. “You’ve been acting strange all morning.”

Cheng Yang shook his head. “I can’t explain now. But I need money – as much as you can spare. You’ll understand by tomorrow afternoon.”

Yu Kai spoke up, “Brothers share wealth, but we’re worried about you. Don’t leave us in the dark like this.”

“Just trust me,” Cheng Yang insisted. “Everything will make sense soon.”
