Chapter 155 – The Ranger
by vap0r1Chapter 155 – The Ranger
Early the next morning, as Cheng Yang stepped out of his room, he found Liu Hao already waiting outside. Cheng Yang had sent word to Liu Hao the previous evening, instructing him to return to Luofeng Village the next morning. The reason, of course, was the Ranger’s Certificate.
“Haozi, you’re quick. Did you start walking before dawn?” Cheng Yang teased with a smile.
Liu Hao chuckled, “Not at all! I left after sunrise. I just moved a bit faster and got here early.”
Cheng Yang didn’t press further, pulling the Ranger’s Certificate from his storage ring. “Let’s go see how impressive this Ranger class really is,” he said, heading towards the class statues with Liu Hao following closely.
Upon reaching the statues, Cheng Yang fused the Ranger’s Certificate with the Warrior Statue. Liu Hao immediately began his class change to Ranger.
[System: Class Change Successful!]
Name: Yu Kai
Affiliation: Luofeng Village
Class: Ranger
Rank: High-Level Ranger Apprentice (52.1%)
Age: 19
Lifespan: 200
Vitality: 151
Mana: 102
Physical Attack: 36
Magic Attack: 8
Physical Defense: 9
Magic Defense: 4
Attack Speed: 6.12
Movement Speed: 12.32
Cheng Yang was amazed by Liu Hao’s new stats. As a Ranger, Liu Hao’s attributes had become more specialized. His movement speed now surpassed Cheng Yang’s, making him the fastest in Luofeng Village. Once he reached the peak apprentice level, even Cheng Yang’s pet, Little White, wouldn’t be able to catch him in a burst of speed.
Moreover, with his movement speed exceeding 10 points, Liu Hao could easily dodge attacks from early-stage first-tier demonic beasts. With some training, he could navigate through danger unscathed.
His attack speed was also 40% higher than that of an average warrior. While this didn’t translate to a 40% increase in absolute speed, it still gave him a crucial edge in combat. Even a 1% advantage could determine who struck first, allowing Liu Hao to control the battlefield or deliver the decisive blow.
However, the Ranger class came with its limitations. Unlike regular warriors, Rangers couldn’t use shields, making them more vulnerable in direct combat. This was somewhat similar to the Assassin class, though Rangers wielded traditional Chinese swords rather than daggers.
Liu Hao’s potential was already evident. With his innate talent and the Ranger’s unique advantages, he was destined to become one of the world’s top warriors.
“Yang, thank you,” Liu Hao said sincerely.
Cheng Yang waved it off. “We’re brothers. Luofeng Village’s future depends on all of us working together.”
Liu Hao grinned, holding up his silver-grade sword, which didn’t quite match his class. “Just wait and see. Even if a dragon attacks our territory, I’ll take it down.”
Cheng Yang couldn’t help but chuckle, recalling the dragon-like demonic beast he had once seen. *Wouldn’t a single sneeze from that thing blow Liu Hao away?* he thought.
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” Cheng Yang said. “For now, focus on finding a weapon that suits your class. This sword is slowing you down. If we can’t find one, we’ll have to wait until we have a high-level blacksmith to craft something for you.”
Liu Hao glanced at his sword. “It’s not a heavy sword, so it’s manageable for now. But I’ll need to pass my shield to someone else. It’s been with me the longest, so it’s a bit hard to let go.”
Cheng Yang laughed. “You’ve only used it for a little over ten days. Are you planning to collect every piece of equipment you’ve ever used?”
“No way,” Liu Hao replied immediately.
After a brief chat, Cheng Yang sent Liu Hao back to his duties. With his new class, Liu Hao was now strong enough to face even peak first-tier demonic beasts.
As Cheng Yang prepared to head to Tongling Village, he ran into Pang Shan. Remembering his promise to Niu Bing, Cheng Yang asked if she wanted to accompany him. Pang Shan, who had been worried about Niu Bing and Liu Xiyue, eagerly agreed.
Over the next three days, Luofeng Village continued to thrive, with everything proceeding according to plan. Cheng Yang spent his days in Tongling Village but returned to Luofeng each night to tackle the nightmare-level dungeons, especially the Bloody Church, which was crucial for both treasure and spirit energy.
Luofeng Village’s daily spirit energy income had now surpassed 10,000 points, with taxes becoming a significant contributor. This growth was driven by the increasing number of mid-level apprentices and the profits from the village’s bank, which generated over 2,000 points in daily revenue.
Cheng Yang’s personal wealth had also grown, thanks to the sale of teleportation stones and his efficient monster hunting with Little White. He now had over 1.9 million spirit energy points in the bank, with a portion of it being interest earned from deposits.
By the 26th day of the apocalypse, May 9th, Luofeng Village’s class statues had been upgraded to level 5, doubling the number of available slots. The village now had over 7,000 warriors, with the total number across all affiliated settlements exceeding 13,000. While this was still far fewer than the major cities, Luofeng’s warriors had a significant advantage in equipment and attributes, making them formidable opponents.
