Chapter 76 – Level 3 Village

In his previous life, humans didn’t start occupying wilderness settlements until two to three months after the apocalypse began. Even then, it took nearly half a year to upgrade a village to level 3. Back then, monster respawn rates had decreased, and major monster hordes in the vicinity had already been eliminated. Gathering an average of 500 spirit energy points per day was considered quite good.

Cheng Yang double-checked the requirements: 400 combat professions met, essential buildings completed, and sufficient spirit energy accumulated. The village was ready for upgrade.

Without hesitation, Cheng Yang initiated the territory upgrade.

A familiar voice echoed in the depths of his soul:

[System: Congratulations! Your territory, Phoenix Fall Village, has successfully upgraded to Level 3.]

[Please check territory attributes for details.]

Cheng Yang immediately opened the village’s attribute panel. The changes were significant:

Upgrade Requirements:
1. 1000 combat professions, main statues upgraded to Level 4.
2. All workshops upgraded to Level 2, new buildings completed.
3. 3 low-tier Soldier-level combatants, 20 peak Apprentice-level, 100 high Apprentice-level.
4. 100,000 spirit energy points.

Cheng Yang was well aware of Level 3 Village attributes. In his previous life, this was the highest level human territories achieved. The main bottleneck wasn’t resources but the lack of high-level combatants.

“Lord, maybe we should build the tavern first. Haven’t had a drink in ten days, feeling listless,” Zhao Chuan suggested.

Cheng Yang had already planned his priorities. The Level 3 walls could wait – current monsters couldn’t even breach Level 2 walls. The mercenary camp wasn’t urgent either, as all players were already organized into five main combat divisions.

The barracks and mission hall were top priorities. As for the tavern… its value was debatable. However, the immediate constraint wasn’t choice but resources – they simply lacked the stone materials needed for construction.

After explaining this reality, Cheng Yang dismissed his subordinates. His earlier portal adventure was forgotten amidst the village upgrade. He sighed in relief, knowing that in this apocalyptic world, nothing was completely safe. To achieve greatness, risks were inevitable.

Looking at the village altar, Cheng Yang felt a surge of pride. Upgrading to Level 3 within ten days of the apocalypse – surely this put him ahead of the pack.

Instead of immediately using his divine favor privilege, Cheng Yang entered the Guardian Hall. He remembered that guard recruitment levels depended on his own strength. If he leveled up first, recruiting the same number of guards would cost more spirit energy.

Checking his account, Cheng Yang saw he had 114,000 spirit energy points – a staggering amount that would have taken him a year to accumulate in his previous life.

However, his current needs were also greater. With the village upgrade, guard slots increased from 20 to 30. After deducting the five already used, he needed to recruit 25 more.

After checking the recruitment list, Cheng Yang found no SS-grade talent guards – such individuals were indeed rare. Without further delay, he proceeded to hire S-grade talent combatants, all starting at mid Apprentice level.

Cheng Yang distributed the 25 slots evenly among the four main classes, reserving one for a priest. The current priest statue’s level limited him to only two priest guards.

Looking at his new recruits, Cheng Yang felt a sense of accomplishment. These would become the backbone of Phoenix Fall Village’s defense.
